Welcome to Paul’s Cactus Bar & Diner in the heart of Bugibba, part of the St Paul’s Bay region of Malta. Our bar has been established for many years as the main sports bar in the area and in recent years has been fully refurbished and enlarged into the the modern and comfortable venue it is today and our new food menu has also recently been added. Our popularity has arisen from our friendly, family atmosphere and for all the following important reasons too:

There’s always something going on at the Cactus Bar even when there’s no sport to show as we host afternoon Bingo every Tuesday and Thursday from 3pm to 6pm, as well as Karaoke every Friday and Saturday evening.

Manchester City Official Supporters Club of Malta
And if you happen to be a Manchester City fan, you’ll be in for a real treat with us. Your host Paul Sammut having realized the number of both Maltese and expat resident City fans across the islands went to great lengths in 2010 to secure the Cactus Bar as the ‘Official Manchester City Supporters Club in Malta”. This was not an easy task at the time but now all City supporters have a special venue to watch their beloved team at home, away and even in Europe with every game seeing the local members & fans descend on the club to support their team.
Visitors and holidaymakers are all made especially welcome as many seek out the club to watch a game while they are in Malta. The club is also proud to have Ms Carmen Young, wife of the late City legend Neil Young, as its honorary chairman. Special events are also arranged for club members on a regular basis with the biggest event to date being the visit of the Official Premier League trophy, the actual trophy held up by Vincent Kompany in May 2012 after City’s dramatic triumph on the final day of the season.
Manchester City themselves approved a request from Mr Sammut to host the trophy in Malta and even better, that it be brought by over in the company of Mr Paul Lake, one of City’s most famous & highly regarded players of the past. (see photos on the right) Our Malta supporters club is also featured in issues of City’s official match day programmes and was even included in the programme for the day we beat QPR to win the title in 2012.
Let’s hope even more success comes our way as City press ever harder for major honours at home and in Europe. If you happen to be in Malta when the team plays we invite you to visit the Cactus Bar and meet some new friends.
